UX Guide To The Galaxy
A Journey to the “No Bullshit” UX Podcast: How We Saw a Gap in the Market
We decided to call it the “No Bullshit UX Podcast.” The name was bold, but that was the point. We wanted to make it clear from the start that this podcast was different. We weren’t going to sugarcoat anything or dance around difficult topics. We would dive straight into the challenges, the trends, and the ever-changing landscape of UX with a focus on practical advice and real-world experiences.
Each episode would tackle a different topic, from the impact of AI on UX roles to the never-ending debate over job titles like UX Designer, UX Researcher, and Product Designer. We would discuss the evolving nature of the field, how to stay relevant in a fast-paced industry, and the importance of keeping the user at the center of everything we do.
But we didn’t want to do this alone. We knew that there were plenty of other UX professionals out there with valuable insights and stories to share. So, we decided to invite guests from all corners of the industry—designers, researchers, developers, and even those transitioning into UX from other fields. We wanted to hear about their journeys, their successes, and their failures.
Building the Podcast
With our concept in place, we got to work. Tina handled the technical side of things, setting up the recording equipment and figuring out how to distribute the podcast across different platforms. Maria took charge of the branding, creating a logo and visual identity that reflected our no-nonsense approach. I focused on planning our content, outlining topics for the first few episodes and reaching out to potential guests.
We quickly realized that this podcast wasn’t just about filling a gap in the market—it was about creating a community. We wanted our listeners to feel like they were part of a conversation, not just passive consumers of content. So, we encouraged them to send in questions, suggest topics, and share their own experiences.
The Launch and Impact
When we launched the first episode, we weren’t sure what to expect. But the response was overwhelming. UX professionals from all over the world reached out to us, thanking us for creating something so raw and authentic. They appreciated the honest discussions, the practical advice, and the fact that we weren’t afraid to challenge the status quo.
As the podcast grew, so did our community. We received feedback from listeners who said that our episodes helped them navigate tricky situations at work, stay updated on industry trends, and even find a sense of camaraderie in an often isolating field.
Looking Ahead
The “No Bullshit UX Podcast” became more than just a side project—it became a passion. We were thrilled to see how our idea resonated with so many people, and we were excited to continue exploring new topics and bringing more voices into the conversation.
In a world full of noise, we found our niche by staying true to our vision: creating a space where real UX professionals could come together, share their stories, and discuss the realities of working in an ever-changing industry. No fluff, no jargon—just honest, down-to-earth conversations about the work we love.
And we’re just getting started.
